Harrysongs is set to launch his record label Alterplate tomorrow at Club Cova VI.
The former 5ive Star Music star has come far from his first single ‘I’m In Love’ which was released under Question Mark.
Harrysong gained prominence as a song writer despite the success of ‘I’m In Love’ he never attained superstar status. Instead his pen was sort after by some of the biggest names in the industry.
He hooked up with Kcee and yes, when Kcee started music Harrysong was in secondary school but their meeting changed his career forever, giving him the classic hit Limpopo and launching his solo career.
It’s not easy to have a dream of being a superstar and be limited to just being the background guy who writes all the hits and others get the shine and fame. He released music under 5ive Star and found a break through with the success of his tribute to Mandela which was the best-selling callback tone on the MTN Network that year.
The Mandela song didn’t quite translate to a mainstream hit, and he remained Kcee’s boy who wrote well till he delivered a smash hit with ‘Reggae Blues’ and had the whole country singing and dancing along.
His follow up songs have not eclipsed the success of ‘Reggae Blues’ and late last year and the beginning of this year he has been fighting for his freedom from former label 5ive Star.
Although it did not come easy, as E-Money founder of 5ive Star Music and Kcee’s brother made sure he was arrested, publicly apologize and rejoined the label before his final release.
As he becomes the boss of himself we hope he can finally live up to his full potential, deliver more hits and finally release a follow-up to his 2012 debut ‘Testify’.
