Strike While The Iron Is Hot: 5 Artistes Who Should Drop Albums Right Now

It is now the norm for artiste to feed of their hit singles for a lengthy period of time before releasing the promised album to the detriment of die hard fans who anxiously wait for the releases, which sometimes can seem like an eternity. We at str8upbangin have decided to call out artiste who are buzzing right now and need to drop that album ASAP.

Davido’s first album may have underwhelmed us despite the hot singles OBO didn’t come together as we all expected. However with the release of Gobe, Skelewu, and Aye, Davido has our attention again and more so has us anticipating his sophomore release.

Winning the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Male and Artiste Of The Year has surely sky rocketed his popularity on the continent, this will be a great time to drop that sophomore which we hope judging from the consistency of his singles will be something utterly amazing.

He is the most due on the list, with enough dance songs released from last year to even last week to make a non-stop party mix of 22 tracks and even more.

His impact has somewhat dimmed, this may be due to the fact that he has too many singles but not enough mega hits. However he is still a darling to millions of fans and they are waiting on that second album. Like seriously wizzy don’t play a Dr Dre on us.

Pato Ranking

Dude is on fire he blazes anything he touches, his singles Alubarika, Girlie O and the Remix, have been smash hits. He has collaborations here and there, he is fast become an A-List artist; just watch any music channel for an hour and you can see Pato Ranking either in his own video or a featured song or just making a guest cameo appearance.

Who says an artiste has to drop singles for 2 years before releasing that debut album. Drop it like it’s hot.

yemi alade

Yemi Alade

Yemi Alade with her hit song Johnny she has been on the lips of every one. The video for the song also made sure it was on heavy rotation on several music TV stations, she even did a French version of the song showing how good a vocalist she can be.

This sultry singer who came to our consciousness after winning Peak Talent Hunt has a strong voice with an exciting personality. Although her follow up single Tangerine has not topped Johnny, it is no flop either, however she might need another big hit to keep us hooked as attentions wane fast in this digital era.

We would love to hear more great songs like Johnny from her in a full length album capacity.

Praiz thrilled us with the single Rich and Famous and we all fell in love with the calm soulful singer who vocally resembles John Legend and he does live up to the comparison.

He decided to go Iyanya on us and did a collabo with Awilo Longomba, not that it’s bad to get out of your comfort zone but not many thought was the best choice of song. He has since continued to flirt with pop music on latest releases such as Sweet Potato featuring Chidinma and Mercy, however both singles still have his signature soulful crooning which distinguishes his music from the pure water fast tempo pop music served by the majority of Nigerian artiste.

We would love to see how this experiment play out on a full length LP plus with Mercy receiving airplay and rave reviews he should capitalise now and drop that debut album.

Any wizkid album will do even if it’s a posse album to signify the presence of his imprint Starboy. With Caro, Number One, and Ginger being certified club bangers we are in anticipation already.
